The incumbent serves as team leader for the Administrative Office staff at Calverton National Cemetery. The Administrative staff consists of eighteen (18) employees engaged in a variety of activities to support the 6,500 annual interments at Calverton. Leads Administrative staff in distributing and adjusting work and tasks among employees, considering workload, staffing, the skill level of certain employees, and priorities. Communicates goals and expectations, deadlines, and timeframes for completion to employees. Ensures new employees are fully trained in current VA/NCA/CNC policies and procedures. Works with CNC management to guarantee existing employees receive refresher training as needed. Updates policies in light of new directive, laws and circumstances. Coaches Administrative staff in the most appropriate and effective means of accomplishing work. Provides advice on work methods, procedures and best practices. Performs public outreach as needed. Required to work Monday through Friday, 8:

30 pm. May include occasional weekends. Due to the mission of the National Cemetery, the cemetery cannot be closed for more than 2 consecutive days at any given time. Additionally, when a Federal holiday falls on a Monday or Friday, staff may be required to work on that holiday or a Saturday. All staff is required to work Memorial Day and Veteran's Day each year. Staff will be required to work overtime, weekends and holidays when necessary to meet the needs of the cemetery. For a GS-08 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
administrative/office work experience that includes work such as gathering data, motivating, training, and working with others in distributing and balancing workload, maintaining quality control for a group of employees, using automated data processing equipment to generate a variety of reports, and establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
